Born in Massachusetts, she grew up in Santa Clara County and attended college at San Jose State University, where she graduated with a degree in nursing. In her free time she enjoys reading, sewing and cooking, and has recently taken up piano lessons. Prior to joining Project HIRED, Cathy worked at various clinics and hospitals providing direct patient care as a nurse. Cathy also dedicated her time to volunteering at various nonprofits, such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), to expand her experience. Through her volunteer work, Cathy was informed about Project HIRED and its services.
Upon completion of on-boarding and orientation, Cathy began exploring the various workshops provided by Project HIRED. "I really enjoyed the workshops and working with the instructor, Diane," said Cathy. "Not only were they informative, but they taught me best practices and how to navigate the ever-changing job market.” Working one-on-one with Project HIRED's HR Director Noel, Cathy was able to perfect her resume and land a job. "I really appreciate the opportunity to polish up my interviewing skills and develop my resume," said Cathy.
Cathy recently completed Project HIRED’s 9-step Client Services program and graduated after solidifying a job at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Palo Alto. When asked if she would recommend Project HIRED to others she said, “Absolutely! The staff members bring a variety of skills sets to help clients find their way back into the workforce. The program worked for me.”
